Loll Designs was founded with a profound appreciation for the environment and a very simple mission: make sustainable products that enhance people’s enjoyment of the outdoors. From the very beginning, we focused on the efficient and responsible use and reuse of materials. Fast forward to today, we’re proud to be known for our unwavering dedication to the environment.
With 100% recyclable material, and design dedicated to durability and longevity, we are committed to being a part of the circular economy. We design our furniture to have replaceable parts and have a take back program to keep our products out of landfills. All of our HDPE products are Cradle to Cradle Certified™, the gold standard for designing and producing products in ways that enable a healthy and sustainable future, and our headquarters is a TRUE Gold certified facility with over 97% of waste diverted from landfill, incineration, and the environment. Loll is sustainability.
Sustainable Materials
Loll outdoor furniture is made from recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a durable, low-maintenance plastic commonly used in products like food containers, playground equipment, cutting boards, bathroom partitions, and boat cabinetry. Our colored material is primarily post-consumer recycled HDPE from single-use milk jugs, while our black material is post-industrial recycled HDPE recovered from manufacturing scrap.
Loll also recycles waste from its own manufacturing process through a local recycling plant. From HDPE plastic to aluminum inserts and stainless-steel fasteners, our furniture is designed to be recyclable.
TRUE Gold Certified
As a TRUE Gold level certified business, Loll HQ diverts 97.4% of waste through reuse, reduction, and recycling.
Loll achieved a Gold level Certification from the TRUE (Total Resource Use and Efficiency) rating system administered by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). TRUE Certification helps facilities to measure, improve and recognize zero waste performance by encouraging the adoption of sustainable waste management and reduction practices, which contribute to positive environmental, health and economic outcomes. Loll diverts 97.4% of waste from landfills with a goal of zero waste by reaching 100% diversion. TRUE Gold certification is a proud moment, as it recognizes all the ways Loll’s endeavors in zero waste contribute to the circular economy and a sustainable future.
Cradle to Cradle Certified
Cradle to Cradle® certifications emphasize Loll Designs' commitment to the environment and product transparency.
The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute works with companies to set them on a path of continuous improvement, prioritizing the environment and human health. With many certifications out there, and with even more of them being self-declared, we felt Cradle to Cradle® was the one to pursue in that it demanded third-party verification. Moreover they provide a comprehensive overview of your company, evaluating you on five categories including material health, material reutilization, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness.
Upon being thoroughly investigated in these five categories, we attained an overall Cradle to Cradle Certified BRONZE™ rating for all of our HDPE products. Earning a Cradle to Cradle rating in the material health category means the material makeup of our products have undergone a complete review of their human and environmental health characteristics, and have been deemed acceptable or preferable. In addition to providing product traceability, this certification also provides legitimacy for the many social and environmental pursuits we do for our employees and the community.

Designed + Made in Duluth, MN
At Loll Designs, being Made in the USA is more than a label. It is a commitment to our community, our customers, and the environment. Every Loll product is designed and manufactured in Duluth, Minnesota, where we proudly employ more than 100 hardworking craftspeople and create high-quality jobs that support our hometown economy. By sourcing our materials and packaging from within the United States, we strengthen American manufacturing while reducing the environmental impact associated with long-distance shipping. Sustainability is woven into every step of our process, from minimizing production waste and recycling materials to redirecting heat from our manufacturing equipment to warm our facilities during the winter. We're proud to craft durable, thoughtfully designed products in Duluth Minnesota, using American materials, proving that quality, sustainability, and domestic manufacturing can all come together.
Clean Yer Creek
This annual spring clean-up event which began as a small company tree planting in Loll’s first year of operation has now grown to include multiple businesses and volunteers. Dubbed “Clean Yer Creek” the event consists of volunteers gathering hundreds of pounds of trash out of multiple creeks and planting trees along the creek beds.
Spearheaded by Loll Designs, but with the help of many other local businesses, the aim is to protect the water quality of Lake Superior and enhance our local ecosystem. Seeking to align with the sustainability mission of the event, each year instead of using plastic bags, grain bags from a local brewery, Bent Paddle are reused to collect the garbage. Additionally, metal shrapnel, bikes, tires, etc are taken to the local recycling facility. Our City Forester consults us on which tree varieties are optimal, considering their success against animals and climate changes, and to ensure they are planted in regions that address erosion. With the growth of this event, the hope is to also spread awareness on the importance of environmental stewardship in our community.
